BEDMINSTER TWP. – A proposal to create a cemetery for members of Trump National Golf Club has been revived with a new wrinkle, but the idea received a cool response from the Land Use Board on Thursday, May 14.
Plans calls for up to 500 burial sites on a vacant, heavily wooded, 9.86-acre tract on the south side of Lamington Road, adjacent to but separate from the 525-acre golf course property. A use variance would be required because the site is zoned for 10-acre residential housing.
Edward Russo, a project consultant for Trump National and a former Bedminster Planning Board member, told the board that in addition to club members, the cemetery would be open to any military veteran with ties to the township who dies in or as a result of being in the line of duty.
